This attractive streamside cottage, reached by crossing
a little footbridge over Sydling Water, is set in pretty gardens,
and situated in a quiet secluded position well away from any passing
traffic.
Our B&B is in the charming and peaceful village of Sydling St Nicholas and is exceptionally well placed for exploring all parts of Dorset. Hardy's beautiful Wessex countryside is readily accessible, by foot in the surrounding hills, or by car. The World Heritage Site (Jurassic Coast) is within easy reach, as are many fascinating market towns and picturesque villages such as Sherborne and Cerne Abbas.
During our six years running Hazel Cottage B&B, Visit England (the organisation that oversees tourist accommodation) has consistently given us a 4-star rating, together with a Silver Award for high quality accommodation and customer service. More recently, we have also received a Breakfast Award for exceptional quality, choice and hospitality. Our most recent inspection in November 2010 confirmed these awards. We have now decided to leave Visit England, so we will no longer be entitled to use these awards in our publicity. But you can rest assured that we will continue to run Hazel Cottage as we always have, with the emphasis on quality, hospitality and a warm welcome.
We have joined the 10:10 Campaign, which commits us to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions by 10% year on year. We are committed to good environmental practice and hope that our guests will support us in our efforts. For more information about the 10:10 Campaign, click here.
